E-AI: Big collaborations sparked at the first meeting of the international E-AI Community

Big collaborations sparked at the first meeting of the international E-AI community

Concrete projects now on the drafting board.

Montreal, June 20, 2022

The first meeting of the international E-AI community, presented on June 14 and 15, lived up to its promise and sparked multiple collaborative projects that will take shape in the coming months. This world-class event welcomed representatives, companies and organizations from entertainment and artificial intelligence (AI) to help these two industries collide and generate productive and innovative collaborations.

An AI hub and helping new players make the leap into this field

One project launched is from Destination Québec cité (formerly the Office de tourisme de Québec), which held a workshop engaging members in creating a call for competition for the fall. The goal is to make the Capitale-Nationale region the first in Quebec, if not in Canada, to offer a large-scale, iconic AI project that will attract local residents and visitors alike. Quebec City is already positioning itself as an innovative destination.

For its part, Moov AI met with fifteen companies interested in making the leap into artificial intelligence by participating in the first edition of A Spotlight on AI – Pitch Session. The best project will go through an AI strategy workshop in a first step towards integrating  AI that will lead to a clear roadmap. Applications will be accepted until June 23.

Mission accomplished!

The #EAI2022 meeting—which is less a conference, forum, or festival than a space for developing and sharing tools and ideas—will stimulate and accelerate projects in entertainment and AI.

“Our goal was to let people converse, create connections, and set the stage for what this community will become in the near future,” explained E-AI Executive Producer Stéphane Martel. “The first phase of our plan is now a concrete reality on a local scale. Everything is now in place to extend this conversation internationally.”

Two participants also shared their experience at the meeting. For Jean-François Connolly from IVADO, his key word for the event was definitely “serendipity,” or the discovery of intriguing and valuable things by chance. For Matthew Shearing, from Australian company OneQode, the quality of the participants alone was worth the trip. “We made contacts with key players in just a few days. It was truly a high-calibre gathering.”

“The Palais is proud to have served as a co-producer of this forward-looking, community-building event. We are convinced that artificial intelligence will hold a bigger and bigger place in our daily lives and business realities. By supporting innovative events like #EAI2022, the Palais is once again showing its commitment to innovation,” said Emmanuelle Legault, CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal.
